ABOUT
Though originally from the eternally grey, industrial heartland of Middlesbrough, my adult life has been spent exploring destinations and cultures different from my own, writing about them for national publications.
My work ranges from reviewing plush hotels in Europe and Asia for Condé Nast Traveller and The Telegraph; trialling madcap hair loss treatments for Men's Health; writing about food culture, Spain, and mental health for The Guardian; and investigating the dark history behind Madeira's levadas for the BBC.
Seville, Barcelona, Granada, Madeira, Stockholm, Bangkok, Koh Lanta, and Ahangama have all been places I've called home, but I'm now based in Tynemouth, just outside Newcastle. I still spend extended periods in Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Thailand, and Sri Lanka.
Standout moments include walking in the Himalayas with the prime minister of Bhutan, flying over Chicago in a helicopter, and driving a tuk-tuk across Sri Lanka.
